Presenting my work
I have decided that I can have my picture hung within 30 minutes due to the fact that all that needs doing is one screw being put into the wall. For this I will drill a small hole at an appropriate height so that the frame hangs just above eye-level.
It was hard to choose a frame that wasn't too thick, that would dominate the image, or one didn't look cheap, but also wasn't unrealistically expensive. Here are a few that I took the time to look at;
My image will be framed with a border and will be featured in a plain, light wooden frame. Choosing this frame ultimately came down to a matter of convenience as many frames I looked at were either the wrong dimensions or too expensive to warrant purchasing. I spotted this particular frame in a Homesense store, which was very lucky in the end as it is always potluck as to what you find in their shops.
The image will be hung in the main house of the Arts Centre, luckily on a wall of its own, which is well lit by an overhead light source. This avoids a shadow being cast on the wall as people move in closer to take a look. This also brings great attention to it, by highlighting the wall space.

Additionally, I have taken inspiration from existing works on display

MMK Frankfurt 'Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2017'

This selection of images are hung in frames with thin, black bezels. Couple this with the large size of each image, it really allows the photograph in each frame to breathe and be unrestricted by the its surroundings. It is more like looking through a window than looking into a frame.

Conversely, in Frankfurt, the surrounding images are defined much more by the frame that they are held in. Not only its strong borders, but the generally large amount of mounting card that is used also. This has the effect of drawing you in closer to the picture on display, which is no doubt helped by smaller image size in this gallery.

For my own work I would want a 'Hybrid' of the two approaches. Sufficiently sized frames and mounting card, will help develop an inquisitive viewer, but I would also like an image on the larger side to allow for the details to be seen. This format works better in my case as I have just the one image to display, by itself.
