Here I have produced 7 image outcomes that represents each visual communication element we have covered in session. Each of these portray different elements of a visual narrative via unique characteristics.
Simplicity
- Uncluttered
- Not a lot of information
- Simple shapes/tone/colours
- Minimalism
If not composed correctly it will look sparse.

For this image I have decided to shoot from a Birds-Eye view. The reasoning for this was that it visually flatten everything in the photo, essentially making the objects look more 2D, giving a more simple intake of information for your eye. Additionally, the straight lines provided by the square tiles and various white plinths void the image of complicated distractions. Leading on from this, this effect draws the eye towards the subject of the image which is much more dynamic in composition and shape. In general, this is a style that I personally favour. I will consciously try and include this sort of visual technique in my work as a way to isolate and bring focus to the cars that I will be photographing.
Complexity
- A busy image
- Lots going on
- Lots of visual information
Be careful with how much information is included. With too much information it can be hard to focus on and bring out the detail.
Andreas Gursky
Jeffrey Milstein

Shape
- 2D
- Height & Width
- Shape created enclosed when a line is closed
- Generally simpler

Form
- 3D
- Height, Width and Depth
- A form encloses volume
- More complex
- Can use lighting techniques to highlight the form of a subject
Edward Weston
Bill Brandt
Ansel Adams

Eye level perspective
- How we see the world
- Very neutral perspective
- More inviting image
Gillian Wearing

High level perspective
- Can create feeling of dominance
- Or submissive/weakness in the subject
- Can simplify scenes

Low level perspective
- Imposing/dominance
- Exaggeration of shape and perspective

Ensure that you explain each of these elements and evaluated the effectiveness of each image.
