After going out to take some initial images to put towards my final editorial layout I have shown them to my Photography class mates so that I can receive some feedback. At this stage I was mostly looking for comments on the tones, framing and general feel I have tried to capture in the first round of editing. Obviously there are more perspectives to capture, so with this feedback I will be able to project my vision even more effectively at the next shoot.
Feedback:
- I really like the style of your images, and how they all link together to produce a narrative. I particularly like the contrast of the black and white cars, as it stands out against the background. The images with the church in the background are also aesthetically pleasing because of the range of colours from the warmth in the sky. The image with the tree in the foreground blurred with the car in focus behind it is effective as it makes the viewer feel as though they are there peering round the tree to see the car, which adds character. The quality of the images are high resolution, which looks attractive especially with the reflections in the clean cars. You have used a range of visual communication techniques. To improve, find text that corresponds with the images and adds to and supports the visual narrative, and consider how you will display your images in readiness for the exhibition.

- I do like how all of your images are the same/similar tones and contrast. I noticed you didn't try the blur mode on that in particular image I requested on the HNC page. I think it will be a good idea to try that so you can show DOF. I see small narrative communication, it looks like you're advertising the cars and I think it should show more story. Possible idea - use text like you are advertising so text about the car, the CC, mileage, etc... try using text like it is a magazine cover, include a heading from a popular car magazine and state 'photographed by JL photography.' Try these ideas (obviously if it links with your idea) and compare the images because I do like them all.
