As part of my experimentation, I took numerous images whilst on a trip to Barcelona. The purpose of this was to try and develop an understanding of what it requires to photograph a city and produce images of variety and substance. To do this I made sure that I was always alert to what was happening so I could capture the spirit and essence of the city. I focused particularly on landscape, architectural and general street photography - including people in images as seen fit.
I am quite happy with the images that I have taken on this trip, especially after pushing myself to capture images outside of my comfort range, such as those featuring the people of Barcelona. Even in conjunction with the architectural images, they add more substance and make them feel more relatable. I am happy with the framing of almost all of the images, which I feel is one of my stronger skills in photography. I feel that this collection of images goes far beyond what you would expect from a tourists perspective. I aim to carry over this to my photo series based on Milton Keynes.
Whilst editing this selection of images I was able to develop a preset in Lightroom that improved my workflow and gives consistency to the collection of images as a whole.
In particular I have tried to emphasise the summery nature of the time spent in Barcelona. I also experimented with using artificial film grain in all of the images, which I feel has given them more texture and a more natural feel.
